Haval Jolion HEV set to make hybrid technology more accessible to South Africans


Having just launched the Jolion S, Haval Motors South Africa have just launched the Haval Jolion HEV and it promises to make hybrid technology more accessible to South African motorists.


Exterior Design

Visually, the Haval Jolion HEV remains largely unchanged. The differences over its internal combustion engine (ICE) sibling include LED Premium Vision headlights, fog lights with blue accents, a distinctive diamond front grille, a redesigned front bumper, silver roof rails, flared brake lights, a sporty rear diffuser and dual vent rear spoilers. Depending on the specification grade, 17 or 18-inch sports alloy wheels are on offer.


Specification

Two derivatives of the Jolion HEV are on offer; a Luxury and Super Luxury derivative. Standard fitment in both derivatives includes heated front seats, six-way electrically adjustable driver's seat and a four-way mechanically adjustable front passenger seat, premium materials, smart keyless entry with push button start, a panoramic sunroof, 7.0-inch color instrument cluster and wireless charging.


Luxury models are fitted with a 10.25-inch Multimedia Touch display whereas Super Luxury models are fitted with a larger 12.3-inch Multimedia Touch display with a head-up display.


Safety

Standard safety features in both Jolion HEV include Electronic Stability Control, Traction Control, ABS with EBD and dual, front and side airbags. Furthermore, an anti-roll system, secondary collision mitigation, uphill and downhill assist, tyre pressure monitoring system and rear parking sensors are fitted.


Super Luxury models further benefit from a 360-degree panoramic camera, adaptive cruise control, traffic jam assist, intelligent turning assist, lane departure alert, lane keeping assist, traffic sign recognition blind spot detection and lane change assist. Innovative driver assistance technologies such as intelligent dodge, rear collision warning and automatic emergency braking are also fitted.


Hybrid Powertrain

Powering the Haval Jolion HEV is a 1.5-litre petrol engine which is coupled with an electric motor. Total system output sits at 140kW and 375Nm of torque, with power delivered via a Dedicated Hybrid Transmission (DHT). A launch control system is also available for rapid acceleration from standstill.


Fuel consumption is claimed at as little 5.0L/100km. Various driving modes such as Standard, Eco, Sports and Snow are available to choose from along with three Dynamic Adjustable Steering modes for added customizability.


Pricing

The Haval Jolion HEV Luxury is priced at R549 950, with the Jolion HEV Super Luxury priced at R579 950. Both derivatives' prices include a 5-year/ 60 000km service plan, a 5-year/ 100 000km warranty and an 8-year/ 150 000km hybrid battery warranty.


We believe that the Jolion HEV will sell like hotcakes thanks to its attractive pricing and impressive level of specification.
