Lexus IS 300h Receives Changes to Specification

Guided by the Kaizen philosophy of continuous improvement, each Lexus product receives improvements and specification throughout the vehicle life cycle. Locally, three derivatives in hybrid guise will be available: IS 300h EX, IS 300h SE & IS 300h F Sport.

Minor visual changes have been made and these include the removal of the IS hybrid badge and the blue color logo. Lexus say that this is due to their future strategy to market and sell vehicles that fit into the brand's New Energy Vehicle (NEV) offering. The next change to have been made is that of the full range of IS 300h's push start button color changed from blue to gun metallic. Lastly, the F Sport model now includes a sunroof whereby it was previously only available in the SE grade as standard.

Standard fitment in the Lexus IS includes 18-inch alloy wheels in the EX and SE whereas the F Sport receives 19-inch alloy wheels, an electric park brake, 10.3-inch touch display with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, a pre-collision system for the SE derivative and F Sport daytime/ night-time pedestrian detection plus daytime cyclist detection, all-speed active cruise control in the SE and F Sport derivatives, lane tracing assist in the SE and F Sport derivatives, blind-spot monitor in the SE and F Sport derivatives, rear cross traffic alert + brake and a panoramic view monitor in the SE and F Sport derivatives when reversing.

Standard fitment also includes smart entry and start, heated and power adjustable front seats, dual-zone climate control, 10-speaker audio system in the EX derivative and 17-speaker Mark Levinson audio system in the SE and F Sport derivatives. Lastly, SE and F Sport derivatives also receive satellite navigation, voice control and LED headlamps with automatic high beam.

Powering the Lexus IS is a 2.5-litre petrol-hybrid which delivers 133kW and 221Nm via a CVT. Total system output sits at 164kW, with Lexus claiming a 0-100km/h acceleration time of 8.7 seconds. Claimed combined-cycle fuel consumption sits at 5.2L/100km.

The Lexus IS range is priced as follows:

  • EX - R924 200

  • SE - R988 500

  • F Sport - R1 007 300

The entire IS range benefits from a best in class 7-year/ 105 000km warranty and full maintenance plan, with service intervals at every 15 000km/ once a year.
