The Volkswagen Golf 8 GTI has been on sale locally for over a year and a half and has since only been on offer with the Vienna leather seat package. Volkswagen South Africa has now introduced the Jacara Edition to the Golf GTI line-up and it offers the iconic Clark Plaid Jacara Fabric seats with a check pattern design.
Interestingly, the iconic design was produced by Gunhild Liljequist, the first woman to work in the Volkswagen design department. Liljequist found Black to be an already sporty enough color however she was on the search for a second color which would provide a powerful and sophisticated effect, and as such, she settled on Red as that color. This essentially birthed what is now widely known as the Clark Plaid pattern which is still on offer in the Golf GTI, eight generations later.
The Volkswagen Golf 8 GTI Jacara Edition is now available at dealers and it retails for R16 700 less than the Golf GTI variant with the Vienna leather seats. The Golf 8 GTI Jacara Edition is priced from R716 500.
